Bound is an evening length dance theater performance that examines the adaptability of the human spirit through the stories of nine individuals living under occupation. Situated between mobile planes that act as buildings,borders and projection surfaces,YSDT conveys the urge to retain a sense of normalcy in an environment of chaos and impending ruin. With an original score by Palestinian composer boikutt, this multimedia production features video, music and text alongside live dancing. Click here to see video.

The visually stunning Frozen Belief II uses flour as a metaphor for faith to explore the relationship of three individuals’ to their own beliefs and the universality of the religious experience. Each character and their narrative is introduced through an intimate scene of solitary devotion- set to text read in Arabic, Hebrew and English. Inspired by [the company's] [King's] travels to the Middle East across borders, through checkpoints and between cultures, this ensemble work- 25 Steps- explores the volatility of human emotion and how the simplest of gestures, acts and steps can all become the vehicles for aggression, hate, compassion or love. Emblematic of King’s signature style that combines fierce technical and athletic ability with thought-provoking and emotionally dramatic subject matter, Al-Bikr Adaptation (adapted from a longer duet) tells the story of a couple following the stillborn birth of their child. Skirt Dance follows the voyage of five women who are bound together both literally by the trains of their flowing skirts and emotionally by the shared thread of human experience. Here the dancers’ skirts unfurl, twist and intertwine to create visually stunning moments that make us realize the power of relationship. Ramblings of a Young Girl offers a glimpse into the heart of a young girl before the inhibitions of age and gender arise. Dive into a vision of fantasy and hope, and romp around with this spunky girl who bounds across the stage from one playful thought to another, reminding us of the uninhibited spontaneity of youth. Through smiles and pouts, successes and frustrations, sheer bewilderment and undeniable tenacity, her adventures take us on a roller coaster ride where nothing is certain and anything is possible.
