Bound is an evening length dance theater performance that examines the adaptability of the human spirit through the stories of nine individuals living under occupation. Situated between mobile planes that act as buildings,borders and projection surfaces,YSDT conveys the urge to retain a sense of normalcy in an environment of chaos and impending ruin. The visually stunning Frozen Belief II uses flour as a metaphor for faith to explore the relationship of three individuals’ to their own beliefs and the universality of the religious experience. Each character and their narrative is introduced through an intimate scene of solitary devotion- set to text read in Arabic, Hebrew and English. Dive into a vision of fantasy and hope, and romp around with this spunky girl who bounds across the stage from one playful thought to another, reminding us of the uninhibited spontaneity of youth. Through smiles and pouts, successes and frustrations, sheer bewilderment and undeniable tenacity, her adventures take us on a roller coaster ride where nothing is certain and anything is possible.
